Farewell Forever 21: Online Clothing Sites

Some days, I'm doing work one minute and the next I'm somehow looking at clothes.

 It's a mysterious phenomenon.

As much as I love Forever 21, or H and M, going on those websites all the time gets boring. So, as a part of my *unofficial* homework I decided to compile a list of interesting clothing websites that are both cute and affordable!

Are there any clothing gems out there that I've missed? Let me know and have fun shopping!

Thank me later.

With love,

DIY Halloween Costumes

Hello Ghouls and Goblins!

Halloween is 19- I repeat 19- days from now. Who's excited?!

I was looking through old blog posts and I found not 1, but 2 blog posts all about Halloween costumes. ( DIY Disney costumes and DIY group costumes)

Fast forward a year and this October is a bit different.

I'm in Ireland and while they love all things creepy and festive- it's not all about dressing up in costumes! Not only that, but this Halloween (and the days leading up to it) I will be on Fall break in Italy and Greece- that will undoubtedly be a lengthy blogpost for a different day.

Nevertheless, I still wanted to search the web for creative costumes because it is downright fun and if I'm not dressing up, it's up to you all to wear an awesome costume and have the best Halloween to date.

All you need is a black dress!

and if all else fails, this video by CloeCouture is one of the best videos I've seen!
 So. many. ideas.

You can see even more festive ideas on my Pinterest.

What is your favorite thing about October or Fall in general?

Mine has to be the colder weather. Nothing beats layers and layers of scarves, tights and sweaters. NOTHING.

Oh, and pumpkin spice lattes, but that was a given.

A Quick Guide to Paris Fashion

Hello there!

Have you seen my post all about getting around the wonderful city of Paris yet?

No?! Well then click here.

A pesky little thing called time has escaped me once again! On the bright side,  finally getting around to talk about Paris fashion is a wonderful way to...

1. Procrastinate a bit of homework
2. Reminisce on all the street style I encountered in the city of love

Paris, and most of Europe, is all about basics- black, white, cream, brown, navy. It doesn't matter what you wear. As long as you stick to these colors, anything will look fantastic!

Since I visited Paris as it got a bit colder I noticed so many women wearing a leather jacket and accessorizing with a scarf. It was such a simple combo yet every single time I saw those pieces together I swooned. Simplicity is always better!

Everyone in Europe is just so much more put together, in the easiest way possible.

It always starts with a pair of booties. Those are then paired with black tights or black jeans. (This is the unofficial uniform of Europe if you ask me)

As far as a top goes... anything goes! Because everything goes with black. Black looks good on everyone and never goes out of style. If you follow that rule, you're as good as gold.

OOTD: More Pizza Please

Good Morning everyone!
Everyone loves pizza, but Mondays? Not so much.

Recently, I've become a sucker for baggy shirts with a cute phrase or cool graphic plastered on them. So when I saw this  from Jac Vanek (I LOVE her- check her out in another ootd here!) I knew I just had to buy it.

Sure, "The difference between pizza and your opinion is that I asked for pizza" is a little sassy, but it's all in good fun. The font, the phrase, the tye dye- I love it all.

When I first bought these I put a picture up on my Tumblr. I just now got around to putting them together with an outfit.

I love that these shoes are essentially combat boots, yet can still be worn when it's hot in the summer. Most of the reviews on this shoe said that they run small and are, at times, uncomfortable. However, I have not had any problems with them yet so they're as good as gold in my book!

This is my last post for a while. I'm on vacation this week and then next week I'm off to Vermont to prepare for school!

Best,
Sarah

How to: Look Luxe for Less

source: here

A month or so before we welcome a new season, magazines and catchy commercials try to sell us all the fun and exciting trends that will be 'in' for the season.

I love looking at all of this, don't get me wrong, but I often think I don't have enough energy to even want to overhaul my closet just to be trendy for a hot second...

Also, in my head: knowing that I just don’t have money to waste on what’s ‘in’ for 5 minutes.  I'm sure you have definitely  felt the same way. No need to worry, I hear you!

Here on Buzz, Boots and Berries, I know you, my lovely reader, are smart enough to realize that this season’s hot (and affordable) trends are hanging in your local thrift store.

Thrift stores are nothing new, literally.
But sometimes trying to navigate through them is a bit tricky and  I understand that it's also equally overwhelming ( al la the thrift shop near my house pictured above). Here's some tips I've acquired that will make you a thrifty shopper in no time!

Step 1: Make a list of what you’re looking for
A thrift store is a magical treasure trove, think The Little Mermaid. Endless racks and shelves filled with all sorts of gems can become extremely overwhelming. Before you even get to your thrift store, make a list of what you are looking for. You saw a picture on Pinterest of a gorgeous plaid skirt that you can’t live without? Jot it down.  A simple reminder of why you’re shopping in the first place will keep you sane, focused and with a happy wallet.

Step 2: Know where to go
To use your time effectively, do some research on where you should be traveling and taking your money. Thrift stores are nothing new and they have built up credibility! Google places in your area or use www.thethriftshopper.com. Both are great ways to tailor your search and see reviews on what other shoppers like you found there.

**( psttt you can even shop on www.shopgoodwill.com and not have to leave your house!)

In doing this, you’ll figure out if the store will have what items you have in mind, but keep in mind that thrift shops are always changing- just because they don’t have your style now doesn’t mean they never will.

Step 3: Reevaluate your picks
Do you really need that piece?
It’s always good to look around the store first and pick things up as you go as long as you don’t lose sight of what it is you are truly looking for. You may end up making the mistake of getting things because you thought they were cute for a split second and got caught up in the moment! A savvy shopper does not need that. Take a step back, try on what you have and go from there.

This sweater and dress were both $10 each!

Step 4: Shop and shop often
Ok, maybe this step should actually be browse and browse often but what fun is that? If you are determined to save money and still look fabulous (which I know you are!)  you’ll stay consistent. Thrift stores are always getting new items so don’t get discouraged. Going on different days or even to new places increase your chances of scoring a great piece tremendously.

This dress was $15, but can be worn so many ways!

Step 5: Everything old is new again
Style circulates. Don’t feel weird about buying things from a thrift store! There are so many pieces from yesteryear that are coming back in style. If you happen to love a piece, but not necessarily the length or fit that’s ok! All the money you’re saving can go toward a tailor. Not only are you psychically making the piece more flattering on you, but you are also manipulating the piece to be one of a kind and something extraordinarily beautiful.

One last thing, thrift shops are usually very good at checking their inventory. However, if something is discolored, ripped or deformed in any other way see if an associate knows a way to solve the problem. They may be able to lower the price or you may realize you can fix it yourself.

Good luck on your next shopping adventure! You don't need to spend a lot to look fabulous my friends.

Have a great day!
Best,
Sarah

Luck of the Irish

Good morning and Happy Saint Patrick's day!
Whether you're Irish or not, I hope luck follows you today.

I am slowly, very slowly, restoring my health. I have a sinus infection that just doesn't want to quit. And let me tell you, it has definitely overstayed its welcome!

While I do love my bed and watching movies, I miss going outside or  -dare I say it- going to the gym.

I'm currently online shopping, which is probably the worst thing to do when sick and  bored, but it sure is fun to look at 'all the things'.

To commemorate Saint Patrick's day, here is a compilation of all things green, festive and cute from around the web.

$5 Francesca's ( because why not?)

What are you all wearing today? Hopefully a little bit of green! Have a great day.
Best,
Sarah

Outfit of the day: Skirts and Stripes

Hello internet lovelies.
For those of you who had off yesterday, I hope you had a relaxing holiday.

Today I bring you an outfit
from when I was home in December.

I've always had a love for putting outfits together, as every girl does, and I believe that- above else- comfort is key. I think this outfit is perfect to just throw on when you are unsure what to wear. (aka almost every day for a college gal like me- swap the sweatpants for a skirt ladies! Actually on second thought, don't listen to me. Sweatpants are awesome.)

Sweater:  Say What?  found at TJ Maxx
Skirt: La Hearts at PacSun
Necklace: Forever 21
 Hair Bow: American Apparel
Tights: Forever 21
Boots: Steve Madden 'Troopa' combat boots

A sweater and skirt combo takes virtually no time to pair together and you can never go wrong with combat boots. ever.

Oh and I can't forget about the finishing touch- a bow. I love bows; they're cute and can tame my crazy curls.  (Sorry for the photo blur- oops!)

I can't  wear this up here in Vermont quite yet unless I want to catch hypothermia on my way to class ( it's a lovely -8 degrees currently). Since that's not an ideal situation I guess I'll just fantasize in my head  about another time I actually can wear this again... in about 5 months. Hmm, but then again, by that point who needs sweaters or tights? oy vey.

When my photos start to get silly it's time to wrap it up. Have a fabulous day! Peace out.

Best,
Sarah
